There’s more than this? We’re bombarded with images of life perfection and articles about having it all. It’s so easy to get caught up in a cycle of comparison.
When I was younger, I often felt like I didn't belong. I used to have a feeling that there was something else out there; surely life really wasn't just what I was living? But, perhaps like you, I just couldn’t put my finger on it...
Although I had this underlying nagging feeling, it was much easier to hide away and do what society told me I should do, than face the 'truth'.
What if that nagging feeling is actually trying to tell you something?
I used to work as cabin crew for a well-known airline. During our desperately needed breaks on tiring long-haul flights, I started seeing a figure every time I closed my eyes. Turns out, this was my first guide. All I wanted to do was sleep and build my strength to get through the second half of the flight. But, as soon as I closed my eyes, there he was, as clear as crystal. It was his eyes I first saw, his stare was intense, I could feel the urgency of him wanting me to connect. He had deep wrinkles and looked serious. When I saw him, I felt his power - his strength, his wisdom, his caring nature.
I was worried - I was seeing things! In hindsight, the reason it happened during the flights was because I was so tired, I had no energy to put up any resistance and so my guide was able to come through easily. Of course, I put this all down to tiredness and carried on with life.
One day, I was looking through a local paper and came across an advert for a meditation class. I’d seen a tiny advert in the local newspaper, with only a few words 'Meditation - for relaxation and guidance, South London, Wednesdays 7pm, call xxx'. The ad could have easily been missed, it was so tiny and had no contact name or clear location. Despite the lack of information, I was instantly drawn to the class. Little did I know, it was absolutely everything I needed at that time and having ignored the guide in my tired moments, this class would help me connect with him. This very discreet class would change my life forever. Incidentally, I was never able to find the advert again when I tried to recommend it to a colleague.
Sometimes when we least expect it, the answers begin to show themselves. All we have to do is quietly ask... But if you’re like me, you may need a little nudge.
The highly intuitive and extremely well-connected mentor provided our small group with tools to start to connect. We always started the session with a meditation which opened us up to connecting with divine guidance, or to say it in a different way, your higher self.
We learned techniques in the class and then practised at home. We were given messages by our guides which we wrote down and took with us to the next session. Our mentor would check with her guides as to the accuracy of the information we were given - they were always spot on. My spiritual guide at the time was a native American, Sitting Bull. The guides you have, change as you spiritually grow and Sitting Bull taught me what I needed to learn from him and now I have others by my side.
I was finally getting answers and on my journey…
This new exciting path had opened up to me and gave me encouragement and genuine direction. It is here that I found my way to fit in. I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do with my life. That nagging feeling was guiding me to teach and help others.
Over the last few years on my journey I have trained in a range of practices, the most powerful combination came when I stepped into the world of Shamanism, propelling me to another level.
I was guided and listened, I saw the opening!
I was drawn to set up weekly meditation sessions with shamanic drumming, to support others who are experiencing what I did.
I researched how drumming helps. The brain will automatically and always connect to and follow continuous rhythmic sounds (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/05/160526125017.htm). When your brain does this, it eases off from all the mind chatter and helps the body to enter a deep state of relaxation. At this moment you can access your subconscious and make positive and powerful changes in your life. Who knows what your path is? If you have a nagging feeling, I urge you to follow it and find out.
For me, it didn’t stop there. I wanted to provide a higher level of impact to anyone listening to a meditation. So with further research, and with the help of my Functional Kinesiologist, Martin Lewis of West Berkshire Kinesiology, we created meditation journeys that resonate at Enlightenment on the Levels of Consciousness scale - this is a whole new subject! (Research Power Vs Force by Dr David Hawkins)
To briefly explain this research... it quantifies levels of human awareness that we all actually embody, beyond normal everyday perception. Dr David Hawkins asserts that within us are answers and awareness we didn’t know we had. This research was scientifically validated and published in his doctoral dissertation titled ‘Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis and Calibrations of the Level of Human Consciousness’.
